The proposition in the Diamond Sutra is: all things in the world are illusory and unreal, and "the reality is non-appearance." It is believed that one should "leave away from all appearances" and "dwell in nothing", that is, one should not be attached to or nostalgic for the real world... …

The four-sentence stanza at the end of the volume reads: "All conditioned dharmas are like bubbles in a dream, like dew or lightning, and should be viewed as such." It is called the essence of the First Sutra.

The "Amitabha Sutra" specifically explains the wonderful scenes related to the "Western Paradise", arousing the yearning of believers, making all living beings have confidence and believe in the paradise.

Not only that, the difference between the two can also be seen from the naming of their respective lineages:

The word "Zen" in "Zen" is the abbreviation of "Jhana", which means "quiet consideration", that is, "quiet thinking", that is, focusing on one Dharma realm and studying "what is the original face". Working hard while thinking in order to realize the original nature of one's own mind is called "zen Zen", so it is called Zen.

"Pure Land Sect" is more direct. It is a sect formed with the purpose of advocating contemplation of Buddha and chanting Buddha's name in order to seek rebirth in Amitabha's pure land of bliss in the West, so it is called "Pure Land Sect".

Let’s look at the practice methods between the two:

The main practice method of "Zen" is "Zen", and there are many types of "Zen", including Shravaka Zen, Bodhisattva Zen, Step Zen, Sudden Zen, etc., but today's "Zen" is in order to make better progress in cultivation. , most of them practice "ancestral Zen" that directly points to the nature of the mind and achieves sudden enlightenment.

The "Pure Land Sect" is simple and easy to practice, has three universal faculties, and can be accepted by the masses. Even the practitioners do not necessarily have to understand the Buddhist scriptures, study the teachings extensively, nor do they have to sit quietly and specialize in practice. They can recite it while walking, standing, sitting or lying down. "Namo Amitabha", as long as you have sufficient faith and vows, focus on one place, recite the Buddha's name single-mindedly, and never slack off, you can be reborn in the Pure Land at the end of your life... Since the "Pure Land Sect" method is simple, it is the easiest to spread, so other sects Many practitioners of this system also practice this method at the same time, aiming to return to the Pure Land.

To sum up, "Zen" and "Pure Land" are very different from all aspects. Even if they don't both recite "Amitabha", they can be regarded as two completely different sects. .

But precisely because of this, how to integrate completely different Buddhist classics into one's own practice has become a major topic for Buddhist disciples. This is also a point of great interest to You Fang, which makes him want to carefully Listen.

"Amitabha……"

"Everyone here is my disciple of Buddhism. You study and recite sutras on weekdays. I think you have also studied my 'Zen' classic - "The Sutra of Breaking the Vajra Prajnaparamita"."

"Then, today I will talk about the four sentences at the end of this volume - 'All conditioned dharmas are like bubbles in a dream, like dew or lightning, and should be viewed as such'."

"How do you think... should be interpreted?"

Upon hearing this question, the monks couldn't help but be stunned. For them, the meaning of the four verses was very clear.

But they all knew that since Master Jie Kong wanted to preach, it could never be just that simple. However, they did not dare to analyze the "deep meaning" he wanted to tell.

At this time, You Fang also started to think about it. He naturally knew the meaning of these four verses. Literally speaking, it should be:

Everything in the world is impermanent, empty and selfless, just like dreams, phantoms, bubbles, dew, lightning and other temporary things that cannot be relied on or relied on. Therefore, we should look at everything in the world from this point of view.

Looking deeper, its ultimate meaning is to warn all living beings not to be fooled by the appearance of things, because those things are all illusions...

The most important thing is to see through the appearance of things to see their essence, and to see the eternal truth from a fleeting moment, so that you can gain your own understanding and take yourself to a higher level.

"ah!"

Thinking of this, You Fang suddenly raised his head and understood at once - isn't this the foundation of "Kuan Shu"? !

Therefore, the essence of the expressions of these four verses and even the "meditation" of "Zen Buddhism" lies in "observation" and "understanding", which seems to have the same origin as my own practice!

"No, it's not just my own practice, but it can be extended to all sects and all methods. This is also the origin of all magic!"

“Therefore, the ultimate focus of these four verses actually lies in the words ‘Dharma’ and ‘Guan’, the meaning of which can be extended to – ‘all magic and magic in the world are false, we should observe their true nature’!”

What is this so-called "authenticity"?

According to You Fang's understanding, that is the "Way of Heaven and Earth"!

What if "the way of heaven and earth" is also a "dream and bubble"?

He didn't care about this. He just followed Master Jie Kong's instructions, stood up slowly, and began to explain his analysis:

"Master Jie Kong, this junior believes that the connotation of these four verses is actually the cultivation of the Great Way."

“I don’t think I need to go into detail about the parts related to ‘observation skills’ and ‘comprehension’ contained in it, but one of the key points I think is the ‘dream bubble’!”

"In my opinion, the methods practiced by practitioners all over the world are all false and empty, because behind these techniques, there is a more fundamental, simpler, and more profound 'principle (Tao and Reason)'" …”

"If practitioners can see through this illusion and burst this bubble, their own cultivation will be able to reach a higher level. This is the process of 'breaking through the bottleneck' on the path of cultivation, and will also make the practitioners distance themselves from the 'Great Way' and the 'Truth' closer!"

"But..."

"The avenue is endless and the truth is endless. It is like layers of bubbles, wrapping up the cultivators in the world layer by layer, making it difficult to see where the end is..."

"Therefore, in my opinion, these four verses also remind practitioners that there is also illusion besides illusion. They should always be vigilant and not worry about the 'unknown' that they have not yet seen..."

"And confused and sunk!"
